5 Fun Things to Do Around Centennial, CO in the Summertime

  |     |   Around Town

hot springWhen most people think of Colorado, they automatically envision ski slopes and powdery snow. Rest assured, that certainly does happen, but there are some really amazing things around our Centennial, CO apartments in the summertime, too. Take a look!

1. Hit the Penny Slots

Black Hawk and Central City are less than an hour away from Denver. These two rivaling Gold Rush towns are filled with penny slots, lots of poker, and miniature versions of Vegas's casino buffets. If you're looking for a more modern stay, head to Black Hawk; if you want something a little more rustic, you'll want to stay in Central City.

2. Soak in Some Hot Springs

The Rockies can be treacherous in the winter, but summer brings easier rides that are filled with stunning views. Take a drive out west to one of Colorado's hot springs for a weekend. Steamboat is within an easy drive, especially during the hotter months, and Strawberry Springs is an experience everyone should get to enjoy at least once in their lives.

3. Check Out a Rockies Game

LoDo is renowned for hosting purple-and-white baseball shirts all season long. From Centennial, you can easily get to Coor's Field by way of the light rail. If you're not up for public transit, a Lyft won't cost you a ton of cash, especially if you're splitting it with other people.

4. Head to Royal Gorge Bridge

If you have a fear of heights, get ready to stare it square in the face as you take to the skies in a way only Colorado could allow you to. Royal Gorge Park is filled with family-friendly activities and adrenaline-boosting elevations that'll make your heart soar with happiness — and maybe a little healthy fear. You can trek across the bridge, take a gondola ride, or zip line across a phenomenal landscape that could never be replicated.

5. Go Whitewater Rafting

Test your limits by seeing how you do when the snowmelt starts rushing down the mountains. There are dozens of reputable whitewater rafting companies all over the Rockies. A short drive west will take you to Summit County where you'll have your pick of everything from amateur adventures to extreme situations.
